EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

This is expressed with great pleasure that Society for Human and Environmental Development has entered into the second decade of its journey started from 2007. The 13 years long journey of the organization has witnessed successes and challenges in terms of providing relief to marginalized segments of society in different thematic areas in both development and humanitarian contexts. The organization capacities have also been enhanced in terms of internal control system, program management and development of standard policies, guidelines and procedures.

The recent years witnessed the challenges of manmade disasters especially in the Newly Merged Districts (NMDs) (erstwhile FATA) resulted into temporary displacement of the affected population in different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa- a huge task to respond to in terms of relief and rehabilitation.

SHED with financial support of International donors and cooperation from security agencies and Government line departments managed to provide relief and rehabilitation services to 227,292 people TDPs in hosting communities and their areas of origin upon their return.

On the onset of current COVID-19 pandemic in Pakistan, SHED immediately engaged its staff to come up with response program in terms of awareness raising, distribution of PPEs, coordination with Government line departments especially with PDMA and District Administration. We also managed to secure funds from international donors in health and livelihood sectors in response to COVID-19 situation and are currently in the implementation stage.

I am thankful to the Board of Directors and Senior Management Team of the Society for Human and Environmental Development (SHED) who are zealously following the holistic mission of the organization and thankful to the respectable founders who laid the stone of SHED in 2007. I am also thankful to all the stakeholders including the donors for their trust in SHED, government line departments, law enforcement agencies, the community elders and above all the end beneficiaries for their trust, support and ownership of the organizational efforts.

Besides from the continued support from the donors and other stakeholders, it is also ought to praise here and thank the SHED team for their untiring commitment and efforts, which have made the organization capable to meet the objectives and carried out the activities as per plan for the uplift of the vulnerable communities.

Thanks
